What is cold process
Cold process soap making is a technique of creating soap by mixing oils such as olive, coconut, and palm with an alkali, which is commonly sodium hydroxide or lye. This process triggers a chemical reaction called saponification, whereby the oils undergo a structural change through the reaction with the lye, resulting in the formation of a solid bar of soap. The term “cold process” refers to the fact that no external heat source is required for this chemical reaction to occur.
